The TRAILS Reentry Project is a holistic, faith-based approach to assisting those impacted directly or indirectly by the trauma of incarceration. This process begins during an individual’s incarceration, for both themselves and their families, and continues through the redeeming processes of restoration and reunification.

Hope Theory in the DOVE Program We work with each participant on three distinct components of hope mapped out by Snyder et al. (1991) :
Goals Thinking – the clear concept of valuable goals.
Pathways Thinking – the capacity to come up with specific ways to reach those goals.
Agency Thinking – the ability to start and maintain the motivation for using those strategies. Hope does not necessarily fade in the face of adversity; in fact, hope often endures despite poverty, war and famine. While no one is exempt from experiencing challenging life events, hope fosters an orientation to life that allows a grounded and optimistic outlook even in the most challenging of circumstances. Participants get assessed on hope periodically throughout their time in the program based off of their personal answers.
Community exploration and connection A large part of DOVE is teaching our young participants about the value of resourcefulness and independence. DOVE participants will regularly get the opportunity to learn more about and get involved in their communities. Every Friday, participants will have the opportunity to hunt for resources and build relationships while learning more about their own roles and responsibilities as a healthy and productive community members. Some of these opportunities are but are not limited to: • Beaver County YMCA • Visiting local horse ranches and farms • Volunteer for community events • Special interest lessons i.e. pottery classes, boxing classes and print shop tours • library visits and many more…
